Estrella’s House

Estrella’s House was named as a tribute to Estrella Rojas, a victim of child abuse. In the year 2000, Estrella’s life ended tragically, in Edinburg, Texas, at the hands of her mother’s boyfriend. Through her guidance and inspiration Estrella’s House, Established in 2000, her memory is kept alive by helping and treating children who are victims of abuse

Mission of CAC:

To reduce the emotional trauma to child abuse victims by facilitation a multidisciplinary team approach, which supports the prevention of child abuse through community education and promotes the effective prosecution of those who perpetrate crimes against children.

 

 

Benefits of CAC:

•Provides a safe haven with a child-friendly, non-institutional environment where young victims are not afraid to tell their story.

•Minimizes re-victimization of child victims by using a multidisciplinary team approach with child abuse investigations

Multidisciplinary

Team

The multidisciplinary team consists of prosecutors, law enforcement, CPS, Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner, mental health and CACHC staff. Our goals include: Coordinate and facilitate investigations, reduce when possible, the number of times each child is interviewed, limit the child victim’s travel to investigative agencies, and increase public awareness about the incidence and impact of child abuse.
